Hoyt Bow Serial Number Location
About Hoyt Currently the company is located in the Salt Lake City in the US. Hoyt normally tends to be a conservative compound bow manufacturer coming up with tried and true designs and changing proven platforms incrementally.
Admittedly, Hoyt Archery is one of the most innovative compound bow designers in the world. It is a well know fact that when it comes to novelties and innovations Hoyt are one the best archery companies out there. Their contribution to the archery industry is enormous and can not be overestimated. Hoyt is definitely on of the leading companies in the archery/hunting industry - the equipment made by this company is very popular among many archers and hunters. Interestingly, a lot of Olympic medalists use Hoyt compound bows proving this brand is very good.
The 2011 and 2012 Elite's should hit advertised speeds. As for the Answer, there was an issue with the mod posts having burrs and the strings were originally served with 3D instead of Halo. Vera Serial Interface Encapsulation. Elite appears to have gotten the quality control issue taken care of.
If you are ordering a new Answer, I highly doubt you will have any issues. If you buy used and have issues, Elite will take care of you.
Serial Number positioning varies by model and year. These are the 5 positions where your serial number could be located. Hoyt began adding serial numbers to bows in 2002. Position 1: Located in the recessed area above the grip on the thumb side.
If you have an issue during the season, Elite will send you a loaner bow. Go to the Elite website and check out the Hunt Guarantee and the Elite Promise for more details. As for shim issues, you do not hear much of that on the Answer. Some have chosen to shim the Answer, but that was to fine tune the center shot and probably wasn't truly needed. As for limb issues, the only issue that was common was a finish issue.
If you browse the forums, you will find very few limb issues on any year Elite. Hoyt has probably had more limb issues than Elite, especially with the limb splintering a few years back. If you do decide to buy an Elite, I think you will be happy. There are plenty of guys over on the Elite Archery Forum who would be happy to help you with any questions. I have used Elite's CS a few times and have never had problems. I think overall, Elite still has some of the best CS in the industry. The problem is you only hear of the bad experiences, not the great ones.
I've owned a GTO and 2 GT500's and I doubt I will switch anytime soon. I try to shoot the new models each year and would have bought an Answer this year if I had the extra money. The problem is I don't want to part with my GT500!
