Software Mfj Multicom
This software is said to work with MFJ TNC's, but I'm not sure which version. I think you could contact them for advice, then try the trial version to see if it works with your hardware. You could also try the AGWPE suite of programs from SV2AGW.He has a very nice terminal program for packet, as well as his 'packet engine' to manage your TNC(s). I used to have the Multicomm software for this TNC but it didn't survive a couple moves. It was on a floppy disk anyway, and who has a drive to read those today? There's a link for downloading a version of the program Skyrider, which was Multicomm before Multicomm existed. This website might have some help: t looks like you can still buy MFJ-1289W from several sources, too.
XPWARE Communications Software. I have decided discontinue support for all XPWare software programs at this. I have decided to post the registration generation. 3.4 Software Control of the 1278: What to do if your TNC doesn't cooperate! The 1278 uses 'open loop' control. That means that when the 1278 receives a command (from. MultiCom for Windows, or from you), MultiCom for Windowshas no way of knowing if the 1278 actually responded correctly2. It also means that.
Click to expand. The MFJ-1278 is based on the original TNC2 design, but it added extra features that no longer made it an exact TNC-2 compatible because the serial port settings, modem port settings, and radio port settings were controlled in firmware opposed to hard set dip switches. These are just the electrical changes that deviated the unit away from the original TAPR TNC-2 design. Numerous Serial Terminal programs have been available, since the early microcomputer hobby days in 1970s/early 1980s. PuTTY is a current popular shareware package (Windows, Linux) that works with direct attached serial (RS-232) ports as well as Network (TCP/IP) connections via Telnet and SSH to other host computers, servers, routers, and remotely managed network appliances. PuTTY Download Page Hilgraeve Inc., a privately held software company based just south of Detroit in Monroe, Michigan, has been a long-time leader in providing data communications software and services.
Hilgraeve's first products were for the Heathkit / Zenith microcomputers in the 1970s. Hilgraeve's HyperTerminal was included with Microsoft Windows until WinXP PACKET MONITOR is a recent software offerin by N3FJP (Beta) NL3ASD PACKET RADIO SOFTWARE - WINPACK w9gb.
Andrew,Stay away from the Multicom software unless you are hell-bent to waste your money on old obsolite software.I don't know when it was written but it sure is outdated and hard to use.The stupid copy protection setup allows you to install it only twice,it has an uninstall program that will let you uninstall it and then reinstall however it isn't worth the effort to install once, you get the picture. The instructions are a hodgepodge of seperate sheets, the program is also the same, not 1 smooth operating system but a patchwork of seperate ones. The only saving grace for MFJ is a program written by KF7XP Gary Johnson. XPCOM is a top notch piece of software and it's like Prego sauce,'It's all in there'.
From logging to rig control. Don't take my word for it give it a try.

How about something for the graphical modes such as SSTV, WEFAX, etc.? -- 73, Member of AMSAT, ARRL, Palatine RACES, and the Arlington Todd Communications League. I agree with staying away from the Multicom software. It is not very good especially in regards to SSTV and WeFax.
Unfortunately, there does not seem to be any other software available that supports these two modes for the MFJ. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong (and tell me where I can get it). Last I checked Lanlink (a good while back) it did not do the 1278 fax and SSTV modes. Do you mean the current version will now handle fax and SSTV? If it does, I need to revisit it! I found that the MFJ 'Multicom' software leaves much to be desired.
The modem isn't bad though. Jack N4ULS Jim Erb 00:00.
