Software:: Unable To Open Memory Stick.ind File Jul 28, 2009 Using a newly purchased Sony DCR-SR47 Handycam, I am attempting to import the still images from the Memory Stick Pro Duo (preferably into iPhoto). Using the Sony instructions provided here /memory-stick-ind-and-mstk-pro-indiviso.html. When I open the file all I see are MEMSTICK.IND and MSTK_PRO.IND. Unfortunately when I attempt to open files with the.ind extension it comes up as an unrecognizable format. The images are viewable on the camcorder but I can't seem to open the file. I read this is because my zip file is too big in FAT format and that if I change it to ntsf or something I'll be able to transfer it.
How do I change it into ntsf format 2. What should I download to write into the ntsf format memory stick on my mac.

Jul 3, 2009 I just bought an 8 gig memory stick - that was advertised as being PC & Mac compatible. I put it in and it loaded fine. But when I tried to copy a file to it - it told me that the file name was too long. The name wasn't that long so I renamed it '1.jpg' - but got the same response. I tried other files and go the same. So I launched 'Disk Utility' and reformatted it using the 'Mac OS Extended (journaled) option.
This worked fine. But this time when I tries to copy any files, it told me that the operation could not be completed because I did not have sufficient privileges to do this. Jun 3, 2010 I've noticed something: when I use 'view info' on files on my usb memory stick, the file size is much bigger than when I use it on the same file on the desktop. For example: I've got a gif file on my memory stick.
Using 'view info' on that file it says: Size: 32 KB on drive (7.129 bytes) When I copy that same file on my desktop it says: Size: 8 KB on drive (7.129 bytes) Which makes more sense. Why does it give 32 KB for a 7.129 bytes file when I vied the info on that file on a usb memory stick? It does that with all files on usb drives. The 7.129 bytes in this case seems to be the true file size, but for some reason 'view info' adds a significant file size to it. Apr 5, 2008 I'm using an iMac OS X 10.2.8. When I plug in my Sony Cybershot (4.1 Mega Pixels) digital camera, the iMac will not read the ScanDisk Memory Stick Pro Duo (512 MB).
If I remove the memory card it will read the internal memory of the camera. When I first bought the memory stick it worked just fine but now I get these two error messages.
'A disk attempting to mount as Unkown has failed verification or has failed to mount. Use Disk Utilities to check the disk and correct any errors' Jun 23, 2012 I want to import photos from my Sony memory stick pro duo to iMac. My imac has SD card reader but not sure whether it reads photos from memory stick pro. I bought this iMac in May 2011. I believe this model doesn't support Memory stick pro. Info: iMac (21.5-inch Mid 2011) Oct 18, 2010 Today I tried opening my keynotes presentation file to make amendments to it and when I double clicked on it, the program loading bar only loaded up a third of the way and then hanged.
I then tried to save it to a flash drive and use it on a different computer, but when I tried to copy it over to the flash drive it gave me this error: 'the finder cannot complete the operation because some data in 'garment styles' could not be read or written error code - 36'. I have tried changing the file extension to a zip, then unzipping it and then renaming it but that did not work.(It wouldn't let me unzip it). I have also looked at the index file name to see if that was the problem, but that is as it should be.
I have also tried uploading it to a website and emailing it and it will not let me. Is there anyway I can recover this file as I have been working on it for over a month and it is due next week, or will I need to start again?
Aug 23, 2009 ok trying not to get a panic attack here. I downloaded espionge to encrypt my valuable files and while it was encrypting (AES 128 bit i think) the program froze and I had to Force quit it. Now I try to open my file (that i was trying to encrypt) and it looks f*^ up.
I can't open it, and when I tried to unmount the partially encrypted file, espionage gave me errors that it couldnt recover the original file. Rslogix Emulate 500 Serial Number 1067 The D here. I had basically all my life's valuable accumulated data in that folder (it was 10 Gb+).
I will praise anyone to the end of my days that can somehow tell me how to restore my file to its original state. Usefull info: 1) AM planning to pay gazillions for recovery software if need be, but free alternatives are always better. 2) I never secure delete if that helps 3) I still have the.sparseimage for the file created by espionage. Because I have a 128MB empty memory stick, yet it says there is only 5.2MB free, and when I try to copy a 17MB file to it, it says it won't fit. How do I reformat it completely so it fixes? Jun 10, 2012 My company started to use encryption software on our computers in work. They use PeeCee, I have an iMac 3.2GHz Intel. I bought a 16GB Tough N Tiny Verbatim Memory Stick. The encryption software used was TrueCrypt as you can use it both on Mac and PeeCee. The problem is I can see my memory stick on a PeeCee but not on my Mac. The IT is indifferent to my issue.
He reformatted the stick a number of times. Says it comes up on the Mac in his workshop, however, it doesn't come up on every Mac computer in work. And more importantly it doesn't come up on my Mac.
I have reformatted to FAT32, reformatted to Mac, given it to the IT guyS!!, updated all software on all computers, I've used terminal to locate it, I've used Disk Utility to locate it. Is it my Mac's fault (other memory sticks come up), is it my sticks fault (it did work once, and works on all PeeCee and some Macs), should I burn it and buy a new one (theres nothing of any importance on it?

Oct 22, 2009 I've partitioned my 8GB USB memory stick using Disk Utility in Snow Leopard and gave it the format of MS-DOS(FAT). It completes successfully, and works within Snow Leopard however when I plug it into Windows, it says its unformatted and needs formatting. It only gives me the option to format 200MB!!! What is going on? I know formatting more than 2GB in FAT is impossible or something but I did it with my external HDD and it works perfectly in Windows.
Oct 30, 2009 Or does it really matter will any brand do or would you recommend a specific brand for an iMac? Mar 24, 2010 I just recently purchase a 2006 Mac Pro 1,1. It came with 1GB (512 x 2 sticks)of memory, I purchase 8GB (4GB x 2 sticks) of ram for it. I checked to make sure I have a total of 9Gb of ram. However, recently I found out sometime my Mac Pro only recognized a total of 5 GB of ram, when this happen, in Hardware Profile it always appear that I have 2 sticks of 512MB ram and 2 sticks of 2GB ram, instead of 4GB.
Restarting sometimes solve the problem, but sometime it still won't help. Did I do anything wrong? (I put a pair on tray A and the other pair on tray B, I also tried to switch them, which seems to reduce the times this happen, but still not completely avoid it). Or is there something wrong with the ram? (But this should not be true because after reboot most of the time it will correctly shows 9GB of ram in total). All the stick is always recognized, just the those 4GB sticks are sometime recognized as 2GB.
Mar 29, 2010 I get this error (-36) whenever I try to copy my documents folder to my memory stick. I know there is plenty of room for my folder, and it copies fine when I format my memory stick to Mac format.
Jun 20, 2010 I have an iMac G3 500 and I bought a 4GB memory stick for it, but when I plug it in it doesn't appear. Is it an incompatibility with the hardware? Is it usb 1.1 in general? Its running os 10.4 so it could be the os as well, but I don't think so. I know its not the memory stick because I tested it on another computer. And yes I tried the keyboard ports and the ones on the machine itself. Oct 11, 2007 I have a Dual 1.8 G5 with the 8 slot memory configuration.
I have 4 1gig memory sticks and 4 512mb memory sticks and I cant get the 512's to be recognized. I have fallowed the instructions on placement order but the 512's which were fine before are now not being seen.
Information: G5 Dual 1.8 Oct 16, 2008 I've just come across this product at belkin. A 16 GB solid state drive, that flush fits in the express-port of the MBP.
Does this mean, that you can use this as a typical SSD if it is left in the port at all does? Running apps and stuff directly from this?
Or is it just a fast type of memory-stick? Feb 18, 2009 I am just wondering if it would be possible to run a game off of a USB memory stick. The game is approximately 600mb and very old (fallout 2 for mac), and I have very little computer knowledge. I'm used to PCs, but even then I'm no whiz. I absolutely cant install the game to my hard drive, as my flat-mate, who owns the computer is very touchy about me installing things or using memory. I eject my memory stick by highlighting it in the finder the selecting File - Eject. The memory stick icon then disappears from the Finder but the light on the stick is still on. As I selected eject I remove the stick anyway. The next time I insert the stick I am told that I did not eject it properly. Dec 7, 2008 I am literally less then a week into being a mac user, so forgive me if I come across as a little ignorant. I'm using Leopard and a 500gb Imac [I don't know if this makes much of a difference?
I was using a 4gb Kingston usb stick to move files from my old pc to the new Imac and made the mistake of not ejecting properly since then every time I insert I get 'the disk you inserted was not readable by this computer'. I've googled and googled trying to find some way to fix it and so far nothing. It does appear in disk utilities as 'generic flash 2.0 media' and i have tried to reformat it, I erased as MS - DOS and then even tried to partition I've tried Master boot record & guid partition table both under MS -DOS [I really need to be able to use on windows as well as mac] underneath it continually says Unformatted beside partition map scheme. I've also tried to reformat using windows in the hope it might bring it back to life, again nothing - so I'm beginning to wonder have I just got a dud memory stick?

This is because the item has been moved to the trash and it hasn't been permanently deleted. If I want to free the space I need to empty my trash.
If I don't want to empty my trash how can I delete a file from a memory stick to free space (permanently delete just 1 file)? Also (sort of linked) - how do I just delete 1 file from trash (empty just 1 file)? The reason I like to keep trash for a while just incase I need to restore a file, if I know I will not need to restore it, then I want to permanently delete just that file. Sep 12, 2009 I am still 'new' to the Mac world and I have a question about memory sticks/thumb drives and deleting info. I deleted some stuff from a thumb drive and it shows up in the trash can, but when I eject the thumb drive the trash can is empty of the stuff I deleted from the thumb drive.
So I figured nothing to delete from the trash can. So today when I plugged in the thumb drive the stuff that I deleted shows back up in the trash can. So for fun I ejected the thumb drive and the trash was empty. Is this normal? I am now deleting the stuff in the trash can with the thumb drive attached and I can see it 'in use' light flashing on the thumb drive.
