Archive And Install Failed Updates
Hi, KB931125 is routinely updated, the most recent having been released at 8/29/2012. My suggestion is first to decline all the superseded update for KB931125 which was released before, make sure Update for Root Certificates for Windows XP [April 2012] (KB931125) has been approved and run cleanup wizard in the WSUS console. So,all the declined prior update for KB931125 will be removed from WSUS.
Go to the PC side, check in the cortrol panel to make sure that Update for Root Certificates for Windows XP [April 2012] (KB931125) has been installed and the update status are showed as installed in the reports on the WSUS server.Restart your WUA,and clear the BITS queue ( Bitsadmin / reset / allusers), run wuauclt.exe /detectnow to see whether the installation failure would be cleared. In general, the environments of KB931125 who experienced this reinstallation issue were those who had not maintained their catalog of superseded updates. I have been searching for quite some time now to no avail on how to either remove or re-install failed updates. You cannot remove a failed updates because it's not actually been installed. A failed update will automatically attempt reinstallation at the next installation event -- but unless you resolve the issue that caused the failed installation the first place, that's just an exercise in perpetual futility. I have many PCs that don't like the recent Update for Root Certificates for Windows XP [April 2012] (KB931125) Then you need to find out why and FIX that. The fact that we're discussing an April Root Cert update in October has not been lost on me.;-) Lawrence Garvin, M.S., MCITP:EA, MCDBA, MCSA SolarWinds Head Geek Microsoft MVP - Software Distribution (2005-2012) My MVP Profile: http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/profile/Lawrence.Garvin.
